It been a little less than two weeks ago since the Cleveland Guardians had three position players go down with injuries, none bigger than José Ramírez.
There were many questions about which players, if any, were going to be able to fill the void of the three lost, especially since Ramírez was going to be out for an extended period of time following surgery on his left hamate bone.
While there has been a lot of lineup shuffling from game-to-game, one consistency has presented itself since: Travis Bazzana leading off and making an impact.

The first overall pick in the 2024 draft, Bazzana is continuing to prove the Guardians made the right decision to take him with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
Travis Bazzana has picked up the slack since the Guardians lost José Ramírez to injury
Since that unfortunate June 13 game where the Guardians lost half their roster, Bazzana has been scorching hot, slashing .303/.410/.636 in 33 at bats. He has gotten on base in all but two of the nine games he's played during that time period while also scoring eight runs.
Naturally, as with the ebbs and flows of a baseball season, there are ups and downs. But Bazzana has mentioned consistency in his approach being a reason for his most recent hot stretch, with everything beginning to click in Detroit a couple weeks ago.
"Since (that series), my process has been really good in swinging at good pitches to hit, moving the bat fast, control, being a tough out," Bazzana told MLB.com's Tim Stebbins after his multi-homer game against the Astros. "It's been good. It’s a long season. You have the bad stretches, good stretches. Just got to be as consistent as you can.”

That game against the Astros still stands out as the high mark of Bazzana's career while also providing Guardians fans with an example of just how talented he is.
Bazzana finished that game 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI, becoming the first Guardians player to have four hits and five RBI in a game since Josh Naylor in May 2023.
While the Guardians selection of Bazzana was highly-regarded among baseball circles, the selection was criticized a bit due to Bazzana's perceived lack of power.
He may not have the incredible power of the Athletics' Nick Kurtz, but he's made it clear that he's able to punish mistakes and can hit the ball to gaps.
Certainly, the Guardians are going to need to look to others to make greater contributions in the lineup if they want to defend their AL Central crown, especially after dropping two of three to the White Sox.
Bazzana has spoken confidently, however, about the pieces the Guardians currently have and believes they have what it takes to be a good offense.
Whether the collective can get hot remains to be seen, but Bazzana has offered a life preserver in the interim and continues to justify status as the No. 1 pick.
