It's almost like there is something in the universe that does not want the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins to play a game at Target Field in Minneapolis. But seriously, the doubleheader that was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday will not go on as planned.

Due to additional inclement weather, both of Tuesday's games have been postponed and will be made up separately. The two teams will again attempt to play a doubleheader on Wednesday, on what was supposed to be a getaway day for Cleveland, before they head over to Detroit to face the first-place Tigers at Comerica Park.

The first of two games to be played on Wednesday will take place at 1:10 Eastern Time and is actually a continuation of Monday's suspended contest. This was supposed to be the first game played today as well, as they are set to pick things back up in the top of the 4th inning, with Minnesota holding a slight 2-1 lead over Cleveland. The game that was supposed to take place at that time will now be played about 30 minutes after the suspended game is concluded.

The game originally scheduled for today, and then bumped to be the second part of a doubleheader following a game's suspension, has been pushed back to September 20th. This will again be part of a doubleheader played between the Guardians and Twins, but unlike the one that is supposed to take place tomorrow, it will feature two nine-inning games rather than one nine-inning game and the conclusion of a game that has been paused.

Even though the Guardians are essentially playing a game and a half the day before they begin a four-game series with first-place Detroit, the extra day of rest on Tuesday should be of some benefit to Cleveland. This week was looking like it could be a make-or-break one for the Guardians, but now, not so much. The games that actually get played will still be of great importance, but they seem a little less season-defining than they did just a few days ago.
