The Cleveland Guardians attended their own funeral, rose from the coffin, and dug one particular pitch out of the dirt along with them to close the comeback in spectacular fashion. With Game 5 in the books, the Guardians' comeback after losing the first two games of the series at home was officially complete.
And while the 26-man roster and coaching staff were partying in the locker room with champagne-covered curtains, the Guardians' Twitter admin was beginning with a natural jumping-off point and opting out of stopping.
To start, the Guardians' account quoted a notable post that made the rounds ahead of Game 3 in Chicago - you know, what they thought was going to be their first home clinch in 106 years. Instead, it ended up being the end of the road for the White Sox season, indirectly. The second they took their foot off the gas pedal and things began to unravel in the middle innings, this series was ostensibly over.
Play "Closing Time". Maybe next year, the White Sox's boyz will look more like men. For now, they're setting ALDS records with 21 strikeouts instead, shattering the previous record of 19 set by the ... 2026 White Sox in Game 3.

Guardians trolling the White Sox extended to the locker room after Game 5 victory
While the team Twitter took its fair share of potshots in rapid succession, the trolling wasn't limited to the social media team.
The Guardians themselves, after popping champagne after a rousing Stephen Vogt scream, imitated the White Sox's pregame routine, proving that they were paying attention to all the grating nonsense along the way.
No word yet on whether someone in the Guardians' locker room has a fake Mike Vasil magic wand, but if they do, it can't possibly be faker magic than the real thing.
The Guardians are partying pretty hard in the clubhouse, even imitating the White Sox pregame dance/chant during their celebration.

The Guardians now play on and face off with Tampa Bay on Monday, a battle that won't be quite as frought as this divisional showdown, but has more at stake.
The winner goes to the World Series, whereas the White Sox will have to peruse Aisle 3 for a "Baseball Celebrator" costume if they want to approximate that reality.

The Guardians will keep it moving, but for now, the message of vengeance is sweet. Someone has come to the end of the road - and it ain't them.
