Last Septmeber, Brayan Rocchio salavged a disastrous 2025 season by mashing a walk-off home run against the Rangers that was the extra cherry on top of the Guardians clinching the American League Central.
On Thursday, he stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Guardians trailing by one run.
While it wasn't as clutch of a situation as his at-bat against the Rangers last fall, it was still a huge spot considering a loss would have dropped the Guardians even further back in the American League Central.
But all that became a moot point, as he answered the call yet again with a two-run walk-off home run off the right field foul pole, which was incredibly reminiscent of that homer against the Rangers last year that also banged off the foul pole.

Brayan Rocchio is becoming Mr. Clutch for Guardians
It can sometimes be hard to fathom just how important Rocchio has become to the Guardians considering at this time a year ago he had just gotten recalled from the minors for his second stint with Cleveland's big league club.
At that point, he seemed like a bit of an infield afterthought. Now he's one of the most important players on the roster who has been tasked with filling the team's offensive void until José Ramírez returns from injury.
“Rocchio's having a tremendous year and we’ve asked a lot of him," Stephen Vogt told reporters after Thursday's game. "He was getting used to sitting in the nine hole. He knew that identity and then obviously the injuries happened and put him at the top of the order and now he’s kind of the Swiss Army knife of the lineup. So we’ve asked a lot of him and he’s handled it all wonderful.”
That lineup change has been one of the toughest things for Rocchio to mangage, as he was one of the best No. 9 hitters in baseball and called the spot in Cleveland's lineup "his home."
But he was forced to move out of that home after Ramírez got hurt (he was hitting in the No. 5 spot on Thursday).
The Guardains have been searching for offense for the better part of the past half decade, and Rocchio's resurgent season helps that search in both the short-term and long-term.
The short-term benefit is clear: he's helping provide Cleveland with offense in the here and now. But he's also not eligible for free agency until 2030, so he's with the Guardians for the long haul.
After Friday's heroics, he now has a 269/.342/.392 slashline with six home runs and 37 RBI along with being worth 7 Outs Above Average in the field.
When Rocchio was at the bottom of the lineup, his production felt like a fun bonus for the Guardians. Now it's a necessity, and he's been able to meet the moment. Thursday was just another example of that.
