Cleveland Indians well represented in AL MVP voting

The Cleveland Indians had a great 2017 regular season, and that was reflected in the final results of the 2017 American League MVP voting.

Cleveland Indians fans got to see Corey Kluber bring home his second Cy Young Award on Wednesday, and were hoping to see Jose Ramirez be named AL MVP on Thursday.

That wasn’t the case, as Jose Altuve finished first while Aaron Judge finished second.

But even though Ramirez didn’t win the award, a third-place finish is nothing to be upset about. And along with that finish, the Indians had two others in the top seven.

Francisco Lindor followed up a ninth-place finish in 2016 with a fifth-place finish this year, while Kluber jumped up to seventh after finishing 19th in 2016.

As with all of these postseason awards, obviously winning a World Series title is the ultimate goal.

However, it is amazing to see the Indians finish with three players in the top seven of MVP voting. And not only that, but three players who are under team control for the next several years.

This concludes award season, and while not a perfect one for the Indians, there is plenty to be happy about.

A Cy Young for Kluber and Silver Slugger hardware for Ramirez and Lindor is plenty to smile about, while a third-place finish for Ramirez in the MVP voting only adds to what will go down as one of the best regular seasons in Indians history.

October success would be nice, but there is nothing wrong with some recognition for a great six months of baseball. Maybe next year our Jose will have his name called as the MVP.
