The Cleveland Indians are getting Andrew Miller back after already having won an American League-record 21 consecutive games.
One of the most impressive stats from the Cleveland Indians‘ 21-game win streak is the dominance of the starting pitching.
The starters are 19-0 with a 1.70 ERA, while the entire staff has allowed just 35 runs, compared to the 139 scored by the offense.
Is this real life?

In a turn of events simply unfair to the rest of baseball, the Indians are bringing Andrew Miller back today to rejoin what is already a dominant bullpen.

Miller last pitched on August 21, before the streak began, and left after just seven pitches when his tendinitis became an issue again. But he has been throwing simulated games and claims he feels ready to return, so all we can do is trust him at this point.
What we do know is that he likely won’t be used the same way he was last year. That isn’t necessary this month as the Indians are already about to clinch the AL Central, but it may scare some fans when it comes to the postseason.
One bright spot is the emergence of Tyler Olson, who has been the go-to, and the only, lefty out of the bullpen in Miller’s absence. Olson has yet to allow a run in 21 appearances this season.
Olson can now take the role that was Boone Logan‘s before he got hurt, which is the guy who comes in for one out against a left-handed batter earlier in a game, saving Miller for later in the game. Francona may still trust Miller more in certain situations, but Olson hasn’t done anything that should make Francona have any doubts about him.
Next: Indians continue to make history with ease
Tendinitis can flare up at any time, so fans will be watching Miller closely, along with how Francona uses him, throughout the next month. The Indians have proved they can win in the regular season without the bullpen ace, but the postseason is a whole different animal.
