The Cleveland Indians continue to amaze us all after tying the 2002 Oakland Athletics with a 20th straight win on Tuesday night.
According to the official rules, the 2017 Cleveland Indians deserve a movie to be made about the team after picking up a 20th straight win. These are the rules, so let’s find a director. And who is going to play Corey Kluber?
Lame jokes aside, the Indians have done what was once so great it warranted a tell-tale book and a movie by winning a 20th straight game. The only difference is that this streak lacks much drama.
Confident Indians fans flocked to Progressive Field on Tuesday night with the hopes of seeing history. It is easy to be confident when one of the greatest pitchers in the game takes the mound.
Kluber responded by cementing his Cy Young Award status with complete-game, five-hit shutout. His eight strikeouts almost seem like a low mark with the way he has been going since June 1. He also picked up his 16th win, which ties him with Chris Sale and Trevor Bauer for the most in the AL.

The crazy thing about this streak is that with the way the team is playing, it is still hard to fathom a loss.
The Indians have Mike Clevinger on the mound this afternoon, and all he has done is log six scoreless innings in each of his past three starts, which have all come during the streak. The Indians have shutout the opponent in all three games.
The Detroit Tigers have clearly given up and after today the Kansas City Royals are in town for four games. The Royals are better than the Tigers, but they too have been a victim of this 20-game streak.
It seems so long ago, but the Royals came to town when this streak was just at one game, not old enough to be called a streak. The Indians won the series by a combined score of 20-0, with the three games serving as a launching point for where we are now.
But before looking ahead to the Royals, the Indians have today’s game against the Tigers to focus on. A win would tie the Indians with the 1935 Chicago Cubs for the longest win streak in MLB history, although the 1916 New York Giants do have the longest unbeaten streak at 26 games, but there is a tie in there. And ties don’t count as far as I’m concerned.

I could go on and I am not superstitious, but I do respect the concept of jinxes. So instead of making any bold claims let’s just all exchange casual nods today as we watch the Indians chase even more history.
