The Cleveland Indians picked up a 16th straight win on Friday, while Mike Clevinger had another scoreless outing during the streak.
The Cleveland Indians continued their dominant run on Friday night with yet another easy victory, which just happened to be the 16th straight win for the club. They have now tied the Browns’ season total for this year, am I right?
The 5-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles sets up a situation in which I am attending today’s game with a streak of bad luck in recent games I have attended. But perhaps the current streak is too strong for my bad luck to break.
Friday’s game was started by Mike Clevinger, and his flowing mane, and saw the right-hander log six scoreless innings. It was his third consecutive start in which he has gone six innings, allowing no runs and a combined 10 hits in that span.

Any John Denny fans out there? Is he John Denver’s cooler alter ego?
The streak of scoreless starts for Clevinger have all come during this 16-game win streak, but there’s one more bit of information that stands out.
Not only has Clevinger logged six scoreless in his three starts, but the bullpen has also gone scoreless in the remaining nine innings:
August 26: Indians 4, Royals 0
September 1: Indians 10, Tigers 0
September 8: Indians 5, Orioles 0

This would stand out much more if not for the fact the team hasn’t lost in over two weeks, but it still shows the insane depth on the team this year. Clevinger is sporting a 3.30 ERA this season and may be fighting for a roster spot in October.
Right now Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Trevor Bauer occupy the three starting spots, while Danny Salazar‘s month of September will determine his fate. If he falters and Clevinger keeps up this pace, look for The Flow to be on the October roster, at least in the bullpen.
There is so much to say about this winning streak, but the most important thing is just to enjoy it.

Fans may worry about the team peaking too early before the postseason, but these guys are just playing baseball. This streak relieves stress and keeps everyone loose, which is the opposite of a bad thing.
