Cleveland Indians fans gave Rajai Davis a warm welcome Thursday night, showing just how meaningful he was and still is to Indians fans.
The Cleveland Indians are following up the 2016 season with quite a good year in 2017, although we all have to wait to see if the postseason magic returns.
But even with all the injuries and inconsistent play, optimism should be high.
Fans got a preview of what may be an ALDS matchup earlier this week with the Boston Red Sox in town. The Indians and Red Sox split the series, which should only raise the excitement level for baseball fans looking for a great postseason series.
It is hard for any Indians fan to ever consider cheering for someone in a Red Sox uniform, but that has changed now that Rajai Davis is a member of the club.

Ovations like the one Davis received last night will likely continue until he retires, although fans won’t be cheering if he does any damage to the Indians in the playoffs.

Regardless, Davis’ magical home run in Game 7 of the World Series has immortalized him in the city of Cleveland, and he will always be remembered for giving us all some hope in what may have been one of the most exciting World Series games of all time.
While cheering for Davis is nice and deserved, he cannot help the team this season. Indians fans must now hope someone on this team has a Davis-like moment to help lead this team not only to make it to the World Series, but to win it all.
Maybe Jay Bruce will get a big hit to go down as an Indians great, or a mainstay like Carlos Santana could show fans just how important he is to this franchise with a magical moment of his own.

Nothing that happens in 2017 will take away the emotions associated with Rajai Davis’ Game 7 home run, but it sure would be nice for Indians fans to have a new moment to remember, and one that is associated with winning a championship.
