The Cleveland Indians shipped Clint Frazier to New York last year in exchange for Andrew Miller, leaving fans wondering how the top prospect will turn out.
Cleveland Indians fans have been witnessing greatness every time Andrew Miller has taken the mound over the past 11 months. But bringing him to Cleveland didn’t come cheap.
Fans may remember that as part of acquiring Miller, Clint Frazier and other top prospects were sent to the New York Yankees. And after years of waiting, Frazier is set to make his MLB debut.
The Yankees have had several players go down with injuries lately, including several of their top prospects, which has led to the team calling up Frazier today.

This is great news for Frazier, as he is one of the top prospects in baseball and deserves the chance to prove himself. But Indians fans may be watching closely.
First off, Andrew Miller was worth it. Even if he leaves after next season, he has helped this team get to an elite level by being such a dominant reliever. Who knows where this team would be without him.
Trading prospects involves the possibility of the player becoming a star and leaving fans wondering what could have been. But the Indians are trying to win now, and get Miller helps focus on that goal.
So if Frazier turns out to be a star, fans shouldn’t be too angry. Even if the Indians don’t win a championship with Miller in town, the trade was in no ways a lopsided one.
And the potential frustration comes from the assumption that Frazier will be a star. Considering he is making his MLB debut tonight, we won’t know the true fairness of the trade for years to come.

So even if Frazier lights it up right away, the Indians still have Miller, arguably the greatest reliever in the game, under contract through next season. And with the talent on the team right now, he gives the Indians an advantage late in games as the push for the postseason continues.
