The Cleveland Indians just wrapped up a great series against the Texas Rangers, but still need to prove they can put together a great stretch of games.

The Cleveland Indians just wrapped up a great start to the week and have fans excited heading into the weekend. Sound familiar?

Just one week ago, the Indians finished up a 7-1 road trip, only to score a total of two runs in three games against the Minnesota Twins over the weekend.

Naturally, the Indians followed that up by taking three of four from the Texas Rangers, and now seemingly head into the weekend with what some would call momentum. But Indians fans are too wise to believe in such a concept this season.

More from Away Back Gone

The difference this time is that the Indians are taking on the struggling Detroit Tigers who were sitting comfortably around the .500 mark, only to recently lose eight straight and head into this series against the Indians with a record of 35-43.

Some may wonder if the Indians pitching will hold up, but it is the offense we must worry about. Last weekend’s series against the Twins showed that this group can disappear at any moment for an entire series.

Fans are waiting for this team to put together a great stretch such as what was seen last season when the Indians won 14 straight games.

Another streak like that is a lot to ask, but even going on a stretch of winning several series in a row should help gain a comfortable lead in the AL Central.

Because as of right now, the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals are still fighting for this division when the Indians are clearly the most talented team. But if all the talent can’t be put together, fans may be in for one of the most frustrating seasons in recent memory.

Yet winning can cure everything, and taking three of four from the Tigers would keep the team rolling and keep fans happy. I said the same thing a week ago, but this time it’ll be different.
