The Cleveland Indians had a great comeback win Monday night, but it only happened because of a horrible outing from Carlos Carrasco.

Cleveland Indians fans may still feel a bit hungover after last night’s comeback win after the range of emotions experienced during the game.

What began as a blowout by the Texas Rangers quickly shifted to one in the Indians’ favor. It was one of the best wins in team history, but it was all sparked after a horrible start by Carlos Carrasco.

Carrasco allowed eight runs in just 3.1 innings of work, giving up three home runs even though he struck out seven batters. It all started with four runs before he could even record a single out, making it seem like a long losing effort was ahead.

We all know how it ended, but it was still alarming to see Carrasco do so poorly after being so dominant this season. He was coming off a start last week in which he went six innings and allowed zero runs against the Baltimore Orioles, although he did leave the bases loaded with no outs before Andrew Miller came in and saved the day.

Regardless, Monday night’s outing was by far Carrasco’s worst of the season, which is important to note. He hasn’t been trending in this direction, but rather he just had one bad start.

In fact, he had allowed a total of eight earned runs combined in his first four starts this month.

It is easy to panic, as some fans were doing before the comeback took place, but for now this one bad outing looks to be nothing more than Carrasco just having a bad night. He was leaving his pitches out over the plate and the Rangers made him pay via the long ball. It happens from time to time.

His awful outing is something to keep in mind when he makes his next start, but the fact the Indians won the game lessens the impact of his night. It wasn’t pretty, but he should be just fine.
