Cleveland Indians: 5 players you can expect to see in the All-Star Game
Francisco Lindor is in an interesting position in terms of All-Star voting. He is in second-place behind Carlos Correa in the voting, but holds a solid lead over the next closest player, Didi Gregorius.
However, Lindor’s numbers have fallen off since his great start to the season. After hitting .309 in April and launching seven home runs, Lindor’s average is now down to .253.
He isn’t striking out often, yet he is simply struggling to get on base, which is not ideal when he hits in the leadoff spot.
But two things are keeping Lindor as a likely face to represent the Indians in the All-Star Game. The first is the amount of votes he has received. When it comes time to pick a reserve shortstop, Lindor is the top choice unless the league wants to have fans claiming a fraudulent voting process.
Then there is his defense, which has made him a highlight-reel player for fans around the league to enjoy. MLB wants its flashy young stars on a national stage, and Lindor is one of the rising stars of the league.
His power numbers also help, and if anyone needs any convincing, Lindor can flash one of his trademark smiles.
