The Cleveland Indians finished off an inconsistent week Sunday and dropped down a few spots in the most recent edition of ESPN’s MLB power rankings.
The Cleveland Indians only played five games last week, going 2-3, with both wins coming over the Chicago White Sox.
Two of the losses were blowouts against the Colorado Rockies, potentially causing some fans to panic. However, the weekend series over the White Sox should bring everyone back to normal emotional levels.
The week did lead to the Indians dropping down to No. 10 overall in ESPN’s MLB power rankings, down two spots from last week.
From the article:
"This team must be driving the Cleveland faithful crazy. After they won four of five home games, the Indians were a season-high four games over .500 on June 1. Then the Tribe lost two of three in Kansas City and suffered a two-game sweep in Colorado, where they were outscored 19-4. Corey Kluber has been good since his return from the DL, but this rotation needs to get its act together. — Michael Bonzagni, ESPN Stats & Information"

Mr. Bonzagni is correct, this team is driving the faithful crazy. While the inconsistency is frustrating, the Indians enter play today just one game back of the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.
And with a four-game series against the Twins coming up this weekend, the Indians are in a great spot to take command of the division.
A lot of focus falls upon the starting rotation, but the offense has been just as shaky all season.
Three big games in a row from Edwin Encarnacion over the weekend is a great sign, but players like Carlos Santana and even Francisco Lindor need to get those averages up.

It is still relatively early and the Indians are one game out of first place, so it should be easy to put last week’s struggles behind and focus on the positives.
