A recent FanSided article ranked the top stadiums in MLB history and the home of the Cleveland Indians came up high on the list.

Cleveland Indians fans have seen some amazing baseball at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario since 1994.

Jacobs Field opened up and ushered in a new era of Indians baseball, one that included a packed stadium and a perennial winner on the field.

The magic of the 1990s died down at the turn of the millennium, but 2016 brought some more magic back to the park for the first time in a decade.

Fans now know the park as Progressive Field, although some loyalists will only ever call it “The Jake.” Regardless, the park and all its history came in as the No. 13 greatest ballpark of all time in a recent article on FanSided ranking the top 30 ballparks.

From the article:

"For a time in the mid-1990s, the Jake was the best place in the league to watch a game. From June 12, 1995 to April 4, 2001, the Indians sold out 455 straight games. With players like Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Albert Belle, and Carlos Baerga, the Tribe had one of the most exciting offenses in baseball, and the city of Cleveland embraced the winning ballclub."

Anyone who was lucky enough to take in a game during that sellout streak knows what a special experience it was, and it appears as if that feeling has returned to Cleveland after the 2016 season.

More from Away Back Gone

The stadium may not be sold out every game, due to a variety of factors, but the excitement is back and the Indians have made sure to continually update the park to give fans the best possible experience.

From the massive video board to the bar areas in right field, Progressive Field is a great place to take in a baseball game, and that is not just my homer opinion. Just go to Tropicana Field and try to even compare the two.

The modern feel to the park helps draw all types of fans, from the diehards to those who want to casually check out an Indians game.

But for the park’s success to continue being recognized, the team must remain a winner and build upon the success had in 2016.

As a closing thought, imagine what it would be like for the Indians to win the World Series in the confines of Progressive Field. It’s almost hard to describe the feeling.
