The Cleveland Indians aren’t playing tonight due to bad weather in Minnesota, but a day off won’t slow down the team after two straight wins.

The dreaded news of tonight’s Cleveland Indians game being postponed hit the airwaves earlier this afternoon, leaving fans with a free night to spend with others, or whatever it is people do when the Indians aren’t on.

The news may be disappointing to some fans who think a day off may take away from the momentum the team has built up after two straight wins, but there should be no cause for concern.

The night off may even benefit the Indians, as the team gets a chance to refocus after an 11-run outburst on Tuesday night, and come into Thursday’s afternoon game after a night off. As my grandmother loves to say, you don’t want to use up all your runs in one night, and a day off allows for a reset.

We have discussed the idea of momentum this month, but two wins in a row should be enough to keep the team confident heading into Thursday afternoon. Also, this is a group of professional athletes who went on an up and down journey a year ago, so one day off won’t cause them to come out flat the next day.

More from Away Back Gone

The focus tomorrow will be on Trevor Bauer, who has allowed a combined 10 runs in his first two starts of the season. He does have 13 strikeouts, but he has to keep his team in a position to win and avoid allowing things to get out of hand early like he did in his first two starts.

It is also up to the offense to continue dominating the Twins and avoid any performances like the ones had against the Chicago White Sox last week.

Edwin Encarnacion is a player to watch, as he is currently riding a five-game hitting streak heading into tomorrow’s game. As with the entire team, fans are hoping the momentum carries over.

But once again, he is a veteran who will not be too affected by an extra day to rest at the beginning of what will be a long season.
