The sun isn’t exactly shining, but it appears as if the Cleveland Indians won’t have any problem playing today’s home opener against the Chicago White Sox.

Cleveland Indians fans who live near the shores of Lake Erie know just how unpredictable the weather can be in April.

That has caused some problems during home openers in the past, but today’s weather forecast looks to be a perfect one for some Indians baseball.

Cleveland weather changes about every ten minutes, but as of 12:30 p.m. ET, weather.com gives a 40 percent chance of rain from now until 4 p.m., although it drops off into single digits after first pitch.

40 percent does not mean it is going to rain, but it is always possible with the weather coming off the lake. The good news is that the forecast calls for a rain-free first pitch, and temperatures in the low-60s.

This is a nice change from past home openers when there was a chance of snow instead of rain.

It is great news, because the Indians will open the home slate with a lineup that is arguably one of the best in all of baseball, and still without two key pieces.

More from Away Back Gone

Carlos Carrasco gets the start and will receive a warm ovation from fans who dearly missed him throughout the 2016 postseason. Follow that up with Danny Salazar starting tomorrow and the whole gang is back together.

Lonnie Chisenhall has not yet rejoined the club, but even he could be back before the Indians head back out on the road again.

Today’s festivities begin with a celebration for winning the 2016 American League pennant, so hopefully the weather can hold off. Regardless, it will be a great moment for the entire roster, while also serving as a reminder of what the ultimate goal is in 2017.

Weather forecasts are known to change in Cleveland, but the predictions and the radar seem to point toward some nice weather for today’s game. Let’s just hope it stays that way.
