5.12

The Twins have struggled a lot this year, as evidenced by their subpar record. But the area where they’ve struggled the most is pitching, as their 5.12 team ERA is the second-worst in all of baseball, trailing only the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Twins have had a revolving door of starters this season, using 10 different starters, and the mark will most likely stand at 11 after Tuesday, having pegged Andrew Albers to make his season debut (more on that in a little bit). The Twins bullpen has not been much better, posting a 4.40 ERA, good for 24th in all of baseball.

Minnesota brought their bats the last time they played the Indians, outscoring them 37-25. They scored double digit runs twice, scoring 10 in game two and 13 in games three. The Twins were led in that series by an offensive trio of Max Kepler, Brian Dozier, and Joe Mauer, as Kepler drove in 10 runs, Dozier had seven, and Mauer had six.

Despite the Twins struggles this year, Dozier is currently in the midst of a career year. The second baseman already has career highs in home runs (30) and RBIs (78), and is slashing .270/.342/.538. Dozier has been used up and down the Twins lineup this year, and has packed a punch no matter where he is. Miguel Sano is second on the team in home runs (20) and Kepler is second in RBIs (58).
