While the Cleveland Indians are thriving at the Major League level, things are going pretty well in the organization’s lower levels, as well.

More from Away Back Gone

The Tribe had two players selected to participate in this year’s Future’s Game in San Diego. Top prospect Clint Frazier was chosen to represent the Indians on the USA roster, while Single-A catcher Francisco Mejia represents the club on the World roster.

Clint Frazier

Frazier is Cleveland’s No. 2 prospect and is ranked No. 23 overall by MLB.com. The 21-year-old has thrived since being selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft.

This season, Frazier has continued to show why he is considered an elite prospect. The outfielder has posted a .295/.376/.481 slash with nine home runs and 38 RBI. He has also stolen nine bases in 12 attempts and has scored 47 runs in 68 games played with the Double-A Akron Rubberducks.

Frazier is clearly one of the game’s best prospect and without a doubt deserved a roster spot in this year’s future game.

Francisco Mejia

Mejia is not as highly-touted as Frazier, but that’s not a knock against the 20-year-old catcher. Since signing with the Tribe in 2012, the Dominican Republic native has proved to be worth the investment.

Mejia has impressed throughout his career in the minors and is in the midst of a stellar 2016 campaign. Through 60 games, Cleveland’s eighth-ranked prospect has a .347/.384/.531 slash. Mejia has also flashed some power with seven home runs and 51 RBI.

While he is still young, Mejia has shown he belongs and could continue moving up the organizational ladder quickly if he continues to progress. For now, being selected to play in the Future’s Game is a great start.
