The Cleveland Indians beat the Chicago White Sox Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-2 in the 10th inning to sweep their division rivals. It was the Tribe’s second walk-off win of the series and second 3-2 victory. The Father’s Day win moved the Indians to 38-30 on the season while the loss dropped the White Sox to 33-36. The Indians have now won six in a row against the Pale Hose and remain in first place in the American League Central.

Carlos Carrasco continued the trend of dominant starting pitching by Cleveland Indians’ starters.  He worked 7 1/3 innings allowing just two runs on five hits. He did walk four and struck out six. The White Sox got to him early, scoring in the 1st inning on an RBI double by Jose Abreu to score rookie Tim Anderson giving Chicago a 1-0 lead. The only other run Carrasco allowed came in the 4th inning on a solo home run by Melky Cabrera, his fourth of the season, giving the White Sox a 2-1 lead.

The Indians bullpen worked 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief of Carrasco. Bryan Shaw got the final two outs of the 8th inning after Carrasco allowed a one-out double. Closer Cody Allen worked a scoreless 9th in a non-save situation. Veteran Dan Otero continued his dominant season with a scoreless 10th inning and picked up his second win of the season (2-0). With the scoreless outing, Otero lowered his season ERA to 0.98.

A day after the Indians offense erupted for 13 runs on 15 hits they struggled to score off White Sox starter Carlos Rodon. The Indians scored just two runs off the young starter, answering each run the White Sox put up against Carrasco. Rajai Davis, who had his best game of the season collecting four hits, led off the inning with a single. He stole third later in the inning and Mike Napoli drove him in on a sacrifice fly tying the game 1-1.  The Indians re-tied the game in the bottom of the 4th inning on a solo home run by Juan Uribe, his fourth of the season and second in the past two days.

The score remained 2-2 til the bottom of the 10th inning when Jose Ramirez drove in Davis with an RBI single past White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu to give the Tribe the walk-off 3-2 win. It was the Tribe’s 12th hit of the game and only Francisco Lindor didn’t record a hit (and even he walked twice). The Indians were also just 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base, but they got the big hit when they needed to get the late win.

The Indians will welcome the Tampa Bay Rays to town tomorrow for a three-game series. The Indians will send out Josh Tomlin (8-1, 3.27 ERA) to face Rays’ lefty Drew Smyly (2-7, 4.75) in the series opener Monday night at Progressive Field. This is the first trip for the Rays to Cleveland and will be the last meeting between the two clubs. The Indians took two of three from the Rays earlier in the season in Tampa.
