Cleveland Indians News: Tribe Claim Joey Butler

The Cleveland Indians claimed Joey Butler off waivers, continuing their low profile offseason thus far. We also have our Top 10 Indians pitchers and Carlos Carrasco news.

The Cleveland Indians are bound to get a no-hitter next season now. Joey Butler was claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Butler was, of course, the one who broke up Carlos Carrasco’s no-hit bid with a single in the 9th inning las season. After batting .276 with eight home runs and 30 RBI in 88 games. At this point, it appears the Tribe are going to collect as many outfielders as possible, throw them against the wall and see who sticks.

More from Away Back Gone

We’ve named the top 10 pitchers of the Indians history, and who was left off might be just as surprising as who’s on it. One thing is for sure, there’s no shortage of great pitching throughout the history of the Cleveland franchise when a guy like Cy Young gets left off.

With all the talk of the Indians trading one of their starting pitchers, our Andrew Schmid decided to take a look at what a pitcher like Carrasco would make in free agency to get an idea of what type of money they’d have to pay for a guy of his caliber. The Tribe needs offense, but you can never have enough pitching, right?
