The Cleveland Indians scored early and often leading to a 10-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Carlos Carrasco got the win and improved his record to 4-2 after pitching seven innings, striking out six but did give up a home run. The Royals pitchers did not do well from the start.

None of their pitchers went more than two and two thirds innings. Nick Swisher, coming off of an 0-4 debut, went 1-5 with a run scored in his second game of the season.

Key Moments

Second Inning

Nick Swisher scored his first run of the season on a Lonnie Chisenhall double.

Later in the inning with Cleveland up 3-0, Jason Kipnis drove in Chisenhall increasing the score to 4-0. Duffy pitched into the second but did not record an out. He was removed from the game with a stat line of one inning pitched, giving up six hits and four earned runs.

Seventh Inning

The Indians answered Kansas City’s run after they cut into the Indians lead to 5-3. Carlos Santana scored his second run of the game on a Ryan Raburn double.

Moss followed up with his own two-run double, driving home Michael Brantley and Michael Bourn, who pinch ran for Raburn. Mike Aviles then hit a RBI single, scoring Moss and increasing the score to 9-3.

Ninth Inning

Brandon Moss finished the scoring 10-3 when he hit his fifth home run of the season!

The Positives

Brandon Moss scored two runs and drove in three runs, including his aforementioned home run. The offense has been struggling lately and cannot win consecutive games. If player’s can replicate Moss’s plate performances more often, we will be having a completely different discussion about the offense.

The Negatives

Lonnie Chisenhall committed his first error of the season in the seventh inning. I understand it is just one, but considering he committed eighteen errors last season which was a top five finish, let’s hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Check it Out

Corey Kluber takes on the Royals and their starting pitcher Edison Volquez at 2:10 PM. Volquez is 2-3 with a 2.10 ERA. Kluber is winless on the year, currently owning a 0-4 record with a 4.62 ERA. Kluber has had quality starts in the majority of the games he started in however. Let’s hope the Indians can finally build on this winning feeling and play off of this momentum leading to an eventual winning streak!
