While Tribe fans dodge rain drops and take in STO’s rain delay coverage, Clipper faithful can revel in another win.
The Clippers moved to 66-58 with their victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Tuesday. Leading the way for Columbus was a couple of familiar faces that hope to help the big league club soon: Michael Bourn and Danny Salazar.
Salazar received the start and compiled an impressive stat line over his seven innings of work, allowing just one run, five hits, no walks, and nine strikeouts. Salazar’s lone earned run came in the first, as the second batter of the game, Freddy Galvis, deposited a fastball in the right field stands. However, Salazar regained composure and dominated the IronPigs before giving way to JC Ramirez for the last two innings of the game.

Columbus beat up on Lehigh Valley pitchers Jo-Jo Reyes, Tyler Knigge, and Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to the tune of 13 hits, five for extra bases, and two walks. The Clippers’ six runs were all scored in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Michael Bourn and a three-run bomb by top prospect Francisco Lindor. Elliot Johnson also knocked in a run during the frame.
The homerun was one of two hits on the night for Lindor. Also boasting multi-hit nights were Jesus Aguilar, Carlos Moncrief, Elliot Johnson, and Luke Carlin.
The Clippers face the IronPigs in game three of their four game series tomorrow at 7:05 at Huntington Park. Gabriel Arias will tow the rubber for the Clippers.
