The Cleveland Indians entered the seventh inning trailing Anibal Sanchez and the Detrot Tigers by a score of 3-0. The Indians bats woke up in the seventh inning and plated seven runs to take a commanding 7-3 lead.
The key hit in the inning was Jason Kipnis‘ 2-out 3-run homer off Tigers reliever Al Alburquerque who had entered the game with runners at second and third and nobody out . He was on the verge of getting out of the inning unscathed after striking out Yan Gomes and Chris Dickerson to keep the game tied at 3-3.
He had jumped ahead of Kipnis a ball and two strikes before Kipnis delivered this 3-run bomb:
