With the first three games of this series in the books, the Cleveland Guardians find themselves in a tough spot, as they currently trail the Detroit Tigers 2 games to 1. Cleveland finds themselves on the brink of elimination following their second straight loss to Detroit.

The most concerning aspect of the past two games is that the Guardians' offense has gone completely silent. Cleveland has been shut out in back-to-back contests and has scored just two runs since their unprecedented five-run 1st inning in Game 1. The complete offensive no-show since then is alarming and has put the Guardians in a spot that could see their postseason dreams come to an end on Thursday night.

Interestingly enough, the one area that most people shared some level of worry about, their pitching, has not been an issue thus far. Cleveland has only allowed six runs total to the Tigers, three of which came on one swing of the bat in Game 2 to break a 0-0 tie in the 9th inning. The other three were spread across the loss in Game 3. Of the runs allowed, the tie-breaking homer off Emmanuel Clase is really the only one to be truly upset about. Sure, allowing any runs when an offense is not scoring is not ideal, but to lose in heartbreaking fashion on Monday was absolutely devastating.

Every single person in the Guardians' clubhouse knows that their backs are against the wall and they are fighting for their playoff lives. They also know that what they have shown at the plate over the past two games has been completely unacceptable and that it cannot continue if they are going to avoid being eliminated this evening. This team is simply too good to just roll over and give up. There is fight left in this team, and you better believe they will come out of the gate ready to push this series to a winner-take-all Game 5.
