Heading into the series, the Twins hold a three-game lead, but if the Guardians manage to pull off the sweep, that lead will no long exist. If there's ever a time for the Guardians to turn things up, it's now.

Guardians vs. Twins odds, run line, and total

Guardians vs. Twins prediction and pick

In this pivotal matchup, I think the best bet to make is for both offenses to show up in a big way. It's a battle of right-handed starters tonight when Xzavion Curry (3.51 ERA) takes on Kenta Maeda (4.22 ERA).

Both offenses rank inside the top half of all teams in OPS against right-handed pitchers since the All-Star Break. The Twins come in at fourth in that stat at .821 and the Guardians rank 13th at .749.

Even if the two starters play some solid baseball through the first five or six innings, let's not lose faith in this bet. One weak point for both of these squads is their bullpens. Since the All-Star Break, they rank 16th and 20th in bullpen ERA.

Let's sit back and root for runs in tonight's pivotal AL Central series opener.
