Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?
It will be Carlos Carrasco who will be tasked with facing the New York Yankees in his third start of the season. Carrasco has been fine through his first two starts but there is room for improvement, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks in 8 innings.
Cookie has a pretty decent track record against Yankees batters in previous meetings, allowing 11 hits in 44 at-bats to go along with 16 strikeouts. Half of those strikeouts belong to Aaron Judge, as he has yet to register a hit against Carrasco, but he has walked twice. Anthony Rizzo on the other hand, is a different story. Rizzo is 3-5 with a double and a home run while also walking three times. Two other Yankees have homered off Carrasco, Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton have one each.
Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?
The Yankees will be countering with Clarke Schmidt. It has been a mixed bag for Schmidt so far, he did cut his runs allowed from his first to second start (three to two), but his walks increased from none to three and strikeouts decreased as well (five to four).
Cleveland hitters have not faced Schmidt often but they do see the ball very well when they have. With 12 hits in 27 at-bats, the Guardians have proven they are more than capable of getting hits off of Schmidt. Jose Ramirez (4-7) and Andres Gimenez (3-7) are the only ones to register an extra-base hit, both having one double. Steven Kwan also has multiple hits off of Schimidt, with three hits in five at-bats.
