Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?

Tanner Bibee will start the first game of the series in Minnesota. Bibee's command eluded him in his last start, as he walked five batters in just 4 innings in a 12-3 win over Oakland. The biggest issue for Bibee in the contest was the 3rd inning. Bibee would walk three batters in the inning, two of which being four-pitch walks in back-to-back at-bats, with the third allowing a run to score. 28 pitches total were needed for Bibee to get out of the inning, and being the second of three consecutive innings where 20 or more pitches were needed played a factor in his early exit.

The Guardians are going to need a much better outing from Bibee in this start, and the good news is not many batters on the Twins have a good track record when facing him. Holding Minnesota to a combined slash line of .194/.359/.259 slash line in 31 at-bats, Bibee has been able to keep some of the better bats in check. This includes Carlos Correa (1-8 4Ks) and Max Kepler (2-8 3Ks). Should Bibee be able to find similar success, it should put Cleveland in a position to take Game 1 from the Twins.

Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?

Minnesota will have Pablo Lopez start on Thursday, this comes after he limited the Kansas City Royals to one run on four hits while striking out seven in his first start. Luckily, the Guardians have had some success when facing Lopez in previous matchups.

As a team, Cleveland is slashing .375/.412/.516 against Lopez in 61 at-bats. This includes 5-11 marks from Andres Gimenez and Steven Kwan, in addition to Jose Ramirez being 4-13. Cleveland has proven they can be successful against Lopez in the past, and it would not be surprising to see that happen again Thursday afternoon.
