Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?
Looking to rebound from Monday's disappointing doubleheader loss to the visiting Kansas City Royals, the Cleveland Guardians will turn to Gavin Williams on Tuesday. It has been a tough go of things for Williams in the month of August, allowing 15 runs on 22 hits in 18.1 innings pitched. Granted, six of those runs came from a start against Baltimore to begin the month, and five more came against Milwaukee in mid-August, but overall, the numbers are concerning.
Williams has held the Royals to a .250/.298/.341 slash line in 44 previous at-bats. Of the 11 hits registered by Kansas City, only three have gone for extra-bases, with Kyle Isbel and MJ Melendez collecting doubles and Bobby Witt Jr. going yard.
Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?
Michael Lorenzen gets the nod for the Royals as they look to secure a series win over the Guardians. Lorenzen was acquired by Kansas City at the deadline to bolster their rotation and has pitched well overall in his four starts. With five runs allowed on 17 hits in 22.2 innings, Lorenzen has provided some much-needed help for Kansas City in their quest to make the postseason.
This will be the second time this season that Cleveland will face Lorenzen. The Guardians were limited to just two hits in 7 innings back in May during Lorenzen's time with the Texas Rangers. Hopefully, they will have a more successful offensive showing this time around.
