Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?
The Cleveland Guardians have tabbed Logan Allen as the starter for the series finale in Houston. Allen has allowed 16 earned runs in his last 19.2 innings pitched, far from an acceptable performance level. The young left-hander has proven in previous outings that he can pitch much better than this and can hopefully do so on Thursday.
Unfortunately, facing the Astros has not gone well for Allen in the past. Houston has seven hits in 16 at-bats against Allen, four of which are doubles. The Astros are not fooled by what Allen has to offer, and it could be a short outing if history is going to repeat itself.
Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?
The Astros will be turning to young right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. It has been a rough 2024 for Arrighetti so far, allowing 13 runs in 10.2 innings against the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, and most recently, the Chicago Cubs. While Arrighetti's strikeout numbers have increased in each outing (3,5,7), that has not helped him go deeper into games, as he has yet to pitch more than 4 innings. With the Guardians starting Allen, who has had his own troubles as of late, facing Arrighetti may be exactly what the Guardians need if they are going to come away with a series win on Thursday.
