Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?

Triston McKenzie will start the first game of the series with the visiting Detroit Tigers. McKenzie is coming off his strongest start of the season, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out six in 7 innings against the Houston Astros. This was McKenzie's longest start of 2024, and he should be able to carry over that success into Monday's matchup.

McKenzie has absolutely owned Tigers batters in the past, limiting Detroit to just three hits in 34 at-bats. Facing the Tigers has gone well for McKenzie previously, and that is something that everyone should expect to continue.

Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?

Detroit will be turning to Jack Flaherty, and like McKenzie, he is also coming off his best start of the season. Flaherty struck out 14 batters and allowed just two hits in 6.2 innings when facing his former team (St. Louis) in his last start. This was the first time Flaherty did not allow a run this season and just the second time in his last four starts that four or more runs were scored against him.

The Guardians only have 26 previous at-bats against Flaherty, but they have managed seven hits (including a Jose Ramirez home run) when facing him. This has been a good matchup for the Guardians in the past, and it should continue on Monday.
