Running a baseball team takes a lot of work.

From having to figure out to manage a roster to filling out a lineup and even making in game decisions, there’s no shortage of things that decision makers have to manage in the quest to win a World Series

And although a very select group of people will get a chance to run a Major League Baseball team, every fan of the sport gets a chance to feel what it’s like with MLB The Show.

And, with the Show’s release less than two weeks away, the folks at San Diego Studio unveiled the top rated players in this year’s iteration of the Diamond Dynasty game mode, and José Ramírez was ranked as the top third baseman.

This is our surprised face.

The Guardians’ talent is evident in the initial MLB The Show player ratings

For the uninitiated, Diamond Dynasty is a game mode that lets teams build players from different eras and teams. Want Aaron Judge to be in the outfield while Fernando Valenzuela is on the mound? Then Diamond Dynasty is the mode for you.

But each current player’s Diamond Dynasty rankings is a bit lower than their actual ranking so that way there aren’t incredibly overpowering players in the game right away.

But that rating governor didn’t hurt Ramírez, who is ranked as a 91 overall, which is top mark among MLB third baseman. That mark is tied with Bobby Witt Jr. and Tarik Skubal for the second-best mark in MLB behind only cover athlete Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani.

Ramírez has been a long-term staple in MLB The Show thanks to his recent dominance that’s raised his overall rating, but this year’s rating shows just how good he was last season thanks to a balanced playstyle. It helped win the American League Silver Slugger at third base, and it helped him become the top third baseman in baseball’s marquee video game.

The rest of the third base rankings may make Guardians fans winch, however, as Junior Caminero was the No. 2 ranked third baseman at 85 overall.

While the Guardians' trade of Caminero is always going to look bad, there’s a chance it could look even worse this spring thanks to Caminero’s presence in the middleof the Dominican Republic’s World Baseball Classic lineup.

In other Guardians news, Cade Smith will launch at an 83 overall, which is the sixth-best mark among relievers. The top five relievers ahead of him are all closers (Mason Miller has the highest-rating), which speaks to how good Smith is.

Emmanuel Clase would likely be at the top of that list had he not been placed on paid leave due to his presence in a pitch-rigging scheme, but Smith being so highly ranked is a tangible example of how good he’s been at the back of Cleveland’s bullpen.

Steven Kwan was rated as the No. 7 left fielder (81 overall), but he could be a center fielder in next year’s iteration of the rankings thanks to a potential position change.
