The talent pool at third base is as deep as it has ever been. Unlike other positions, a valid argument could be made for any one of the top five featured in a recent list that could be considered the best. But even then, someone has to be selected as the best player at the hot corner, and that person was Cleveland Guardians star third baseman Joes Ramirez.

Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report published Ranking the Top 25 Third Basemen of the 2024 MLB Season, with Ramirez claiming the top spot on this list. Ramirez claimed the number one rank on this list, with Matt Chapman (2), Rafael Devers (3), Alex Bregman (4), and Manny Machado (5) making up the rest of the top five.

A major factor in being ranked as MLB's best third baseman was Ramirez's performance at the plate. Narrowly missed a 40-40 season while being the heart of the Guardians' offense. This is not a new development, as Ramirez has been performing at an elite level for some time now, more than justifying his place atop this list.

The six-time All-Star has averaged 38 doubles, 32 home runs, 107 RBI, 29 steals and 6.2 WAR over the past four seasons, making him unquestionably one of the most productive players in the sport, yet he still rarely receives the recognition he deserves on a national level.

It is that last part there that should garner some extra attention. Jose Ramirez does not receive the attention of some of the other names on this list despite performing at this level for this long. If the average baseball fan was asked who the best third baseman is, most would say any of the other first five names on this list. Credit where credit is due, those are all excellent players and have proven worthy of being among the best, but it is past time for Ramirez to get the recognition he deserves, even if it is overdue.
