The Cleveland Guardians are just looking to build some momentum against a struggling Twins team. Cleveland has won two in a row and are just 1.5 games back of the AL Central leading Tigers. Unfortunately, some rainy weather in the area is ruining all of our fun.
There were several scattered showers in the area this afternoon and we were already in a rain delay, but the hope was that it would be a quick delay and they would be able to finish the last couple innings of this game. Unfortunately, more weather seems to be on the way and the tarp went back on as the delay continues.
aaaaaand the tarp is back on https://t.co/pv4Rs2e5UK

Guardians vs. Twins Rain Delay 5/1: Here is when this matchup will restart and hopefully finish
So the problem here is that the weather is not set to improve in the Cleveland area as time goes on today. There was a nasty look red and yellow blog slowly heading east with some scattered showers in front of it. The hope was that this game could get done before that front arrived, but the two teams only managed to get to the eighth inning.
Usually, this would be an easy fix as whoever was leading the game at the time would likely just be declared the winner and everyone goes home. Unfortunately, this game is tied 2-2 as Minnesota JUST put a pair of runs on the board in the seventh to make the game interesting.
If this game can't be finished today, that means MLB will have to schedule a time for them to finish it or just wait on a decision to see if it ends up mattering in the playoff race. One just hopes that isn't what happens.
**Update: 5:31 PM EST/4:31 PM CST**
We are well over a hour and a half into this rain delay there there has been no word about when the game will start and the weather radar does not look promising whatsoever. Delaying an afternoon game into the evening may be preferable to suspending the game and resuming it the next time these two teams meet, but the field may not be playable the longer this weather sits over the stadium. Stay tuned.
