It is now time for one of the best traditions of the holiday season, the Festivus Airing of Grievances. But this is not just any Airing of Grievances; this edition is focused squarely on the Cleveland Guardians.
It has been a trying offseason for Guardians fans, and you better believe the fanbase has some grievances about how this ballclub has operated following the conclusion of the regular season. Nobody blames anyone for feeling a little dejected right now, considering the recent transactions that have taken place. Anyway, let's get into it.
Cleveland Guardians Grievance #1: Overall lack of urgency
While the Cleveland Guardians have been a bit more active over the last couple of weeks, there seemed to be no sense of urgency with how they would operate once the offseason began. Sure, there was speculation about players they might be able to re-sign or who could be on the trade block, but it took a while for things to get going, and that is not acceptable.
For a team coming off a 92-win season, an AL Central title, and an ALCS appearance, and that is before mentioning this was accomplished with a rookie manager in Stephen Vogt, one would think they would be a bit more active when it comes to making additions to their roster. There are a few transactions under their belt now, but it would have been nice to see them be involved in the top-tier free agents instead of only rooting around a group of players with some sort of knock against them.
