While Cleveland Guardians had a bit of a quiet trade deadline, they still found a way to get involved by trading injured pitchers Shane Bieber and Paul Sewald.

But that doesn’t mean that the Guardians weren’t well-represented at the trade deadline in other ways.

Here’s a look at every former Guardian who was dealt away at this year’s deadline

OF Alex Call
Traded from Nationals to Dodgers

Call came up through Cleveland’s system and got his first taste of big league action with the club in 2022 before being designated for assignment and scooped up by the Nationals.

That was a shrewd pick-up for the Nationals, as Call went on to hit .243 in 265 games in Washington before being traded to the Dodgers on Thursday in exchange for two pitching prospects.

While Call is 30, he is under club control until 2029 and can play all three corner outfield spots. He’s hit .274 in 237 plate appearances this year, and mashes against left-handed pitching (.314 batting average).

He seems destined to win NLCS MVP.

Carlos Carrasco
Traded from Yankees to Braves

Atlanta proved there are still a couple bites of the cookie left when they acquired Carrasco earlier this week in exchange for cash considerations. But, unlike the other moves on this list, this wasn’t a move made to try to win-now, as the 46-62 Braves are just trying to make it to the end of the season.

The Braves ran out of healthy pitching at the big league level, which led to them making a move for Carrasco, who had been in Triple-A with the Yankees. He made his first start of the season for the Braves on Thursday and allowed three runs across six innings of work.

INF Willi Castro
Traded from Twins to Cubs

While Castro never played in MLB for the Guardians, he’s still tangible representation of one of the worst trades in recent memory, as the front office traded him to Detroit in 2018 in exchange for 71 at-bats from Leonys Martín.

Castro has since blossomed into one of the best utility players in all of baseball, and was even named an All-Star last year. But now, for the first time in his career, he’ll be playing outside the American League Central as a member of the Chicago Cubs.

He kills left-handed pitching (.837 OPS this season) and has played every position but catcher and first base in his career.

He’s the kind of floor-raising player the Cubs needed in their quest to keep up with the Brewers.

OF Ramón Laureano
Traded from Orioles to Padres

Laureano resurrected his career with the Orioles this season and now gets to join a Padres team that’s right in the middle of the National League postseason hunt. Laureano hit .290 in 82 games with Baltimore this year, and now will likely become the Padres’ starting left fielder.

His 72 game tenure with the Guardians was a bit disappointing, but he still has some pop left, as he showed last week when he slugged three home runs in a four-game series against the Guardians.

The Orioles were able to net six prospects in exchange for Laureano and Ryan O’Hearn. O’Hearn is a free agent after this season but Laureano has a $6.5 million team option.

RHP Phil Maton
Traded from Cardinals to Rangers

Kudos to Maton from developing a bit of a bullpen afterthought in Cleveland to a solid MLB reliever.

Maton, 32, had a 2.35 ERA in 38 1/3 innings this year with the Cardinals, and has posted a 2.31 ERA across 70 innings since last July.

He’s also yielded just one home run this year and has a 1.48 ERA since May 5.

He spent parts of three seasons in Cleveland after being acquired from the Padres, but was traded to Houston in 2021 in exchange for Myles Straw. Maton spent 2 1/2 years in Houston before playing for the Rays and Mets in 2024.

The Cardinals netted two pitching prospects and international bonus pool money in exchange for him.

1B Josh Naylor
Traded from Diamondbacks to Mariners

The Guardians moved on from Naylor in the offseason via a trade with the Diamondbacks, who traded him to the Seattle Mariners earlier this week. Naylor was productive in his time in the desert (.292 batting average, 11 HR, 52 RBI), but the Diamondbacks decided to move on from his expiring contract as they shifted toward being sellers.

He’s directly in front of the Guardians’ path toward a postseason spot, as the Mariners are 58-52 and three games ahead of Cleveland for the final Wild Card spot in the American League.

Naylor has hit .231 in his first seven games with the Mariners, and is now joined by Eugenio Suárez, his former teammate in Arizona who the Mariners acquired in a trade early Thursday morning.

Amed Rosario
Traded from Nationals to Yankees

It wasn’t that long ago that Rosario was viewed as one of the pieces of Cleveland’s long-term core. Now he’s an infield bat for hire who is going to serve as one of the main bench bats for a team with World Series aspirations.

Rosario hit .270 with five home runs in 46 games with the Nationals, and has gotten a hit in his lone at-bat with the Yankees so far.

He’s mostly played at third base and second base this season after exclusively being a shortstop during his time in Cleveland.

The Nationals were also able to net two prospects for him, which is a solid get considering the Guardians were only able to get the ghost of Noah Syndergaard in their trade for him two years ago.
