4. Munetaka Murakami, 1B
One of the ways the Guardians can make the most of that prime is by adding some power to the lineup, which is where Murakami comes in.
While the Guardians don’t really dip into the international waters to make a signing, Murakami stands out as one of the top power options in free agency after smashing 265 home runs across eight seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball.
He has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game and has struggled with injuries throughout his career (he only played in 56 games last season), but his power is legit and he’d help fill a big hole on the roster.
He can also play third base in a pinch, but it’s hard to imagine he’d do that given the presence of Ramírez.
