Did the Guardians say more than intended with new uniform unveiling?

Just a few days ago, the Cleveland Guardians revealed their new uniform set for the upcoming season. A few tweaks here and there, but enough was done to help forge a new and separate identity from the team's former moniker, but that is not the story here. Focus needs to be turned to who was included in the new promotional photos for their new look, and it includes a certain someone who has been mentioned several times in trade rumors lately.

In the below group of photos of the Guardians' new alternate road uniform is Josh Naylor. Now, this may not seem like a big deal, but let the fact of Josh Naylor being included in the new promo photos sink in just a bit.

Admittedly, this may seem like conspiracy theory and tin foil hat time, but let's think about this for a second. If the Guardians' intentions this offseason were to trade away Josh Naylor, why include him in these photos? To have him be part of their new uniform reveal and subsequently trade him shortly after would be an epic miscalculation in brand perception and reputation management that this organization typically does not make. It certainly seems like Naylor is in their plans for next season and potentially beyond.

Now, this is not to say that they would not entertain offers for Naylor and possibly agree to a deal if the right offer came along because, let's be real here, they absolutely would. The Guardians have always operated in a certain manner, and that includes listening to trade offers on players they have not extended and are about to become free agents They have done this so many times before, and it would not be a surprise to hear some murmurs of trade discussions surface this winter.

There just seems to be a distinct difference between this situation with Naylor and those that have taken place previously, and perhaps his inclusion in their new uniform photos could be a sign that he is here to stay. On the other hand, this could all mean nothing and not be a sign of their intentions with their approach to Naylor's impending free agency. In time, everything will be revealed as to whether or not Naylor is here for the long haul or if he is another player that Cleveland trades away and turns into multiple others down the line.
