Who is the Cleveland Guardians probable starting pitcher?

Tanner Bibee was originally supposed to start on Opening Day in Kansas City but has been scratched due to an illness. Ben Lively will start in his place as the Cleveland Guardians look to get the season started on a good note.

Lively was a bit of a surprise for Cleveland last season, pitching to a 3.81 ERA and 1.245 WHIP, the best full-season numbers of his entire career. Hopefully, Lively will be able to replicate his success in Cleveland from last season and be another innings-eater-type pitcher that the Guardians' pitching staff desperately needs.

The 33-year-old veteran faced the Royals twice last season, allowing six runs on 13 hits and two walks while striking out eight in 10 innings. Three Kansas City batters have recorded multiple hits against Lively in previous meetings, Bobby Witt Jr. (3-9), Salvador Perez (3-6), and MJ Melendez (2-7).

Who will the Cleveland Guardians lineup face?

Cole Ragans will take the mound for Kansas City's Home Opener. Ragans finished 2024 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.143 WHIP, and 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings pitched en route to a fourth-place finish in American League Cy Young voting.

A few Guardians have experienced success when facing Ragans in the past, Steven Kwan is 3-8, Carlos Santana is 2-10 (one of his hits being a home run), and Jhonkensy Noel is 1-2 with a long ball of his own.

Who is starting for the Cleveland Guardians today?

LF Steven Kwan, 3B Jose Ramirez, CF Lane Thomas, 1B Carlos Santana, DH Kyle Manzardo, RF Jhonkensy Noel, C Bo Naylor, 2B Gabriel Arias, SS Brayan Rocchio
