5. Carlos Carrasco - Starting PItcher

From 2014-2018, there may not have been a pitcher who was overlooked and underappreciated as much as Carlos Carrasco was. During those five seasons, Carrasco had a 3.27 ERA and 1.089 WHIP while striking out just over 10 batters per nine innings pitched and even finished fourth in the 2017 American League Cy Young Voting. While he may not have been Cleveand's Ace in those years, he was a very important part of their pitching rotation, which resulted in plenty of success on the field.

Carrasco was traded along with Francisco Lindor to the New York Mets ahead of the 2021 season, and his time in Queens was not particularly consistent. His performance fluctuated over those three seasons, bookended by years of ERAs above 6.00 with a respectable 3.97 in between.

The Guardians would bring Carrasco back to Cleveland in 2024 as an insurance policy and as it turned out, they needed him. An injury to Gavin Williams in Spring Training, combined with losing Shane Bieber after two starts resulted in Carrasco being a major part of Cleveland's rotation last season. Cookie would finish the year with a 5.64 ERA and 1.399 WHIP in 21 games for the Guardians in 2024.

Carrasco has stated that he wants to continue pitching, but it remains to be seen if another team will take a chance on the 37-year-old veteran.
