OF Juan González, 2001

That’s right, this list has two players from the season. While this might be cheating since González had one at-bat with Cleveland in 2005 (his final MLB at-bat), González was great in what was essentially his lone season in Cleveland after starring with the Rangers.

The two-time MVP hit .325 with 35 home runs and 140 RBI in 140 games, and seemed poised to win the RBI title before failing to drive in a run over the final 10 games of the season, which led to him losing the title by one to Bret Boone.

He slugged .739 with three doubles in two home runs in that aforementioned series loss to the Mariners, and returned to the Rangers on a two-year deal after 2001.

RHP Kevin Millwood, 2005

Millwood was a middle-of-the-rotation arm for most of the first seven years of his career with the Braves and Phillies before finding a new level in 2005. Millwood finished the year with an American League-leading 2.86 ERA in 192 innings and came in fourth in Cy Young voting, marking the first time he’d earned Cy Young votes since he did so in 1999 with the Braves.

After the season, Millwood signed a five-year deal with the Rangers (sensing a trend here?), and went on to play in seven more MLB seasons.
