Every year, there are some players who get off to a scoring start and appear to be unstoppable forces, both at the plate and on the mound. Then there are the others, who, if given the opportunity for a do-over, would take it immediately and not think twice about it. This group of Cleveland Guardians players, unfortunately, falls into the latter group rather than the former.
Lane Thomas - Center Field
As one probably would have guessed by the above picture, Guardians center fielder Lane Thomas makes an appearance on this less-than-ideal list. Thomas has struggled out of the gate, and an early season wrist injury may have opened up an opportunity for someone else to stake their claim to playing time in the outfield.
In eight games played, Thomas has five hits in 30 at-bats, only one going for more than one base (a double) while striking out eight times compared to just one walk. This is not at all the level of production that the Guardians require out of someone expected to be one of the more productive hitters in their lineup.
When looking at the bottom half of Cleveland's lineup on any given day, it seems pretty clear that they are counting on Thomas to be one of their more important bats. It will be on him to turn things around once he returns, and hopefully, he can take some pressure off of the likes of Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan.
