With Opening Day just a few days away, the Cleveland Guardians are getting prepared for what should be another entertaining season of baseball on the corner of Carnegie and Ontario. The Guardians are poised to build upon what they achieved last season and should again be one of the better teams in the American League. The following four predictions go hand-in-hand with what should be a successful season fo the Guardians.
1. Gavin Williams forms elite pitching tandem with Tanner Bibee atop Cleveland's rotation
In his first two major league seasons, Guardians starting pitcher Gavin Williams has shown plenty of promise, showcasing his talent as part of Cleveland's rotation. An injury in spring training last season stood in the way of putting together a sold 2024, but with that in the rearview mirror, Williams should be able to bounce back in 2025 and be a dominant force on the mound for the Guardians.
Williams has been dominant on the mound in spring training and looks more than ready for the regular season to begin. Additonal drop has been measured on what has been described as his "hard breaking ball", and that should help him in his effectiveness on the mound. Meanwhile, Tanner Bibee is adding another pitch to his arsenal, a two-seamer that he previously threw in college and what he described as a "reverse cutter" against right-handed hitters.
If Williams can pitch up to his talent level and Bibee continues to improve on the mound, the Guardians will have an elite duo capable of shutting down even the most potent offenses in Major League Baseball.
