It is almost the middle of January, and there are still a handful of notable free agents who remain unsigned. While it would be preferred to see the Cleveland Guardians be involved with some of the big names on the market, it is much more likely that they will be targeting players a tier or two below the household names that are still without a contract, and the following three players could be intriguing options for them to consider as Spring Training approaches.

1. Lance Lynn - Starting Pitcher

Almost 38-years-old, Lance Lynn probably does not have a lot of innings left in his arm, but that does not mean the Cleveland Guardians should not consider him as a possible addition to their rotation. Lynn is coming off a productive 2024 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, compiling a 3.84 ERA, 1.338 WHIP, and 8.4 strikeouts per nine innings in 23 starts for the team he made his MLB Debut with back in 2011.

At this stage in his career, Lynn might not be the most exciting name to add to Cleveland's rotation, but this is about taking a step to possibly avoid what happened last year. If the Guardians can squeeze the last ounce of productive pitching out of Lynn's arm in 2025, it would be considered a huge success and could hopefully be a stabilizing arm in the back end of their rotation.
