José Ramírez will ultimately go down as one of the greatest players in Cleveland Guardians history, and his 2022 season will be just one of many examples why.

But even if he won’t be the AL MVP this season (though he’ll certainly garner votes), Ramírez’s stats for this year show why he is unequivocally the Guardians’ MVP.

Now to the good stuff. Ramírez is the first and only player in Cleveland’s storied franchise history to put together a single season that includes the following:

  • 120 RBI
  • 25 home runs
  • 40 doubles
  • 20 stolen bases

And just to show how rare a feat this is, Ramírez is the first player in baseball to accomplish this feat since Toronto’s Shawn Green in1999.

So no, Jose Ramírez won’t win the MVP award once again, but the 2022 season will go down as perhaps his best year to date in what is beginning to look like the makings of a Hall of Fame-caliber career. Which, ultimately, any player would trade for an MVP award in the end.
