Cleveland Indians fans have been ranked among the best fandoms in all of sports and entertainment in the 2019 FanSided 250.

The FanSided 250 rankings dropped this week and Cleveland Indians fans should be pleasantly surprised.

The fans showed up No. 8 overall among MLB fandoms and No. 144 in a set of rankings starting with Alcorn State at No. 250 and Marvel at the top spot. The eighth spot in MLB is a big honor considering the Indians are the highest-ranked small market team.

Indians fans eat up everything the team puts out on social media and the fandom is one I am personally proud to be a part of, even if the team has its problems. As you may have guessed, the team also beat out the rest of the AL Central.

Frequent FanSided readers may notice the name changed from the “Fandom 250” to the “FanSided 250.” The change reflects the most buzz-worthy fan bases of the year as opposed to the best in general. Still, Indians fans would not fall far either way.

The Indians sure gave fans plenty to talk about in 2019 and that continues to be true as we approach 2020. The Francisco Lindor trade rumors are enough to divide fans and he may not be the only star being sent elsewhere this offseason, And in case you forgot, the Indians are still favorites to make the postseason in 2020.

Major trades will undoubtedly have a few fans saying they are swearing off the team. Though a winning record should solve that.

Indians fans also have to face criticism of low attendance. Yet the team consistently gets high TV ratings because, to be totally honest, it is expensive to attend an Indians game. I suppose it is just the way of the world.

The players on the team don’t control the ticket prices and don’t have to deal with the Twitter drama. Fans are able to focus in on their efforts and block out all the noise. For fans to join them on this journey when the team hasn’t won it all since 1948 perfectly illustrates why Indians fans are among the best in the world.
