The Cleveland Indians have something to celebrate in November as two players were named Gold Glove Award winners for the 2019 season.

Today was not a great Sunday for Cleveland sports fans.

But while the Browns were ripping out the collective heart of the city, the Cleveland Indians had a few players rewarded for their work in 2019.

Let’s start with a pleasant surprise on a cold Sunday night. That surprise is Roberto Perez winning his first Gold Glove! Not a bad way to finish your first full season as a catcher. The Indians had an awesome video package ready to go.

Perez was the clear favorite analytically and that was reflected when he won a Fielding Bible Award a few days ago. He stepped into a full-time role once Yan Gomes was traded and proceeded to lead a young pitching staff to great heights.

Perez’s blocking, framing, and ability to limit base-stealers all stood out as he deservedly wins his first major award.

But he was not alone. Francisco Lindor claimed his second Gold Glove to take some of the focus off his contract situation for a few minutes.

Lindor now has two Gold Gloves, two Silver Sluggers, and four All-Star appearances in four full seasons of play. He is a gem and one of the most valuable players in all of baseball. Now his price tag is only going to go up with yet another award to his name.

He is already loved for his offense. His defense being elite as well means there is no conceivable way he takes any sort of discount on his next deal. But like I said, the award is a nice distraction from all that talk. Just for a bit.

dark. Next. What to do with Lindor

There are more awards to be announced but these two were the most likely to go in the Indians’ favor. A nice consolation after missing the postseason for two quality human beings.
