Cleveland Indians: Daily rundown – January 16th, 2019

We’re just under a month from pitchers and catchers reporting and the Cleveland Indians have a lot of work to do. So naturally, we’re going to keep waiting.

I probably sound like a broken record at this point. Maybe starting a daily rundown during the slowest offseason I can remember wasn’t the best idea. The most entertaining moves the Cleveland Indians made happened before 2019 and we’ll talk more about our hopes and dreams as Spring approaches.

But we’re still just waiting for the Indians to make moves (if they make any). We can probably expect them to wait out the market at this point and you can make of that what you will. But until a move is made, it’s safe to say this season may not be too exciting.

While we wait for the Indians to make something exciting happen, the Phillies are looking to make something really exciting happen. Supposedly the Phils are looking at adding Dallas Keuchel, Bryce Harper, and Craig Kimbrel. Talk about putting their money where their mouth is, the Phillies are going all in to win the competitive NL East (the NL division the Indians face this year I might add).

On the subject of pitcher that we care about, MLB.com wrote about how the Corey Kluber, three-team trade could work. I’m too stubborn to agree with this but Indians beat writer Mandy Bell contributes here to say how the trade could and couldn’t work. For what my word is worth, I still hate this trade.

Here’s why a three-team Kluber deal could happen / Mandy Bell, AJ Cassavell, and Mark Sheldon

There really isn’t much to more to report on at the time of writing this. If something comes up we will be sure to cover it. In the meantime, keep an eye out for some pieces previewing the 2019 season as we count the days to Spring Training!
