We’re in the first full week of the new year, and we hope things start to heat up for the Cleveland Indians on the hot stove. Here is your daily rundown!

Happy Monday, Tribe fans! The Cleveland Indians went and did a thing on a Sunday afternoon and we’re getting more fun rumors that make me want to cry uncontrollably. But hey, at least it’s news. Despite the fact that this news continues to cause a ton of confusion with us all.

So let’s start with that. Supposedly the Indians and Dodgers are still talking about a potential trade involving Corey Kluber or Trevor Bauer. This comes despite the fact that the Indians were reportedly unlikely to move either pitcher.

But now we’re starting to see the curtain pulled back. According to reports, the Indians are asking for a lot in return (as they should). Supposedly, the Indians are looking for a Chris Sale-type of player in return for either pitcher. The Dodgers are looking to add either to get over their World Series hump.

We got some actual roster news this weekend. On Sunday, the Indians went for depth at catcher by striking up a trade with the Mets. The Indians sent a few prospects to New York in exchange for catcher Kevin Plawecki. Plawecki likely won’t be starting many (if any) games with the Indians, but he gives them depth throughout the farm system.

Finally, a post from Cleveland.com went up a few days ago that turned out to be a real eye-opener. Even for me. It’s an easy read but it’s a bit of a slap in the face of the reality and really shows where the Indians stand. Terry Pluto makes some great points about the current state of the Indians roster, along with payroll.

Next. Danny Salazar won't be ready to break camp, says Francona. dark

There we have it. It may feel like a long week, but we will all get through this together. Save those vacation days that you may be tempted to take for Spring Training. Enjoy your Monday, and as always… Go Tribe!
