A recent article looked at the best win for every MLB team in 2018. The choice for the Cleveland Indians was an exciting walk-off win.

The 2018 regular season was an odd one for the Cleveland Indians.

The team did win 91 games, but there was just a weird feeling all year. Bad losses to lowly teams will do that.

But throughout it all, there were some great games to remember.

A recent MLB.com article went through the best win for every MLB team in 2018. The game chosen for the Indians came on May 27 in what was a 14-inning, 10-9 victory over the Houston Astros.

Jordan Bastian’s recap of the wild game, featuring videos, can be found here.

The game was a dud heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Indians trailed 8-3 after the Astros had gone off for six runs in the top of the eighth.

Then came a 17-pitch at-bat from Jose Ramirez to start the ninth. A hit parade followed as the Indians tied the game at 8-8 on a Michael Brantley single. There weren’t too many fans left in attendance, but those who stayed were going nuts.

As is tradition, both teams scored one run in the 13th to delay dinner and force another inning. A Greg Allen walk-off home run ended things in what seemed like a statement win over the Astros. The statement was forgotten in October.

The win got the Indians to 26-25 and thus back over .500 after a May that saw the team hover around and below that benchmark. Yet the division was never in doubt in what was an odd season.

Regular season wins are still fun. Any win is fun. But I hope at this point next year we can be all talking about our favorite victories from the postseason. I’m tired of watching videos from 2016 at this point.
